I would enthusiastically recommend a stay at the Azzurro Holiday Apartments to anyone looking for a peaceful, comfortable vacation in the Italian countryside. Located south of Amalfi, two-hours from Naples by car, Castellabate sits on the Cilento Coast. Here you will find beaches and mountains, narrow roads that wind through medieval villages, and wonderful views of rolling hills and blue ocean. We visited for five days and left feeling that we could have easily stayed for five more. If you like active and adventurous holidays you will not be disappointed. When you grow tired of seafood lunches on the beach and napping in the sun with the distant shape of Capri on the horizon, there’s a buffalo mozzarella cheese farm to visit, a specialty fig manufacturer on top of a mountain to discover, and the ancient Greek temples of Paestum to drive to. There is also the old city of Castellabate, located at the tippity-top of a small mountain with wonderful views of the landscape and ocean. There are more activities and sights than we had time to do and see. We went swimming and ate delicious pizza and fish. Petra and Marco were very kind and welcoming. They were always enthusiastic to give local tips, directions, or suggest activities and restaurants. The accommodations were very comfortable and the apartment was surrounded by plants, flowers, lemon trees, and herbs. Throughout the day, we could hear the soft sound of cowbells ringing from down the hill. Highly recommended! A very special place. Visiting for the first time felt like discovering a secret holiday destination. I am already looking forward to returning.
